The main research themes of the Unit are (i) the study of natural modulators of DNA repair mechanisms; (ii) the study of compounds modulating the metabolism of bacteria (quorum sensing and biofilms) and Plasmodium, the malaria parasites; (iii) the development of a 3D neuronal culture systems to study the involvement of alkaloids of dietary and endogenous origin in essential tremors; (iv) the study of plant extracts obtained from eutectic solvents (NADES) and their bio-guided fractionation for antioxidant, antibacterial and antimalarial properties; and (v) the study in Katanga (D. R. Congo), Madagascar and Burkina Faso of the role of these extracts in the development of a 3D neuronal culture system, and of the conditions for the integration of traditional medicine into modern medicine.<\/p>\n
