Legal Methodology<\/h6>\n<p>This teaching unit called \u00ab\u00a0Legal Methodology\u00a0\u00bb aims to build the tools necessary for a good understanding of legal matters. It also promotes the development of methods of\u00a0organisation, structure and learning materials.<\/p>\n<p>This covers several topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The receiving and processing of verbal information (e.g. analysis and comprehension of texts, including\u00a0structure, summary, reforumalation, use of ad hoc legal vocabulary)<\/li>\n<li>Standards of, and advice on, writing assignments<\/li>\n<li>Rules of referencing legal sources<\/li>\n<li>Standards and advice on how the library works and putting quick research methods of legal sources (e.g. legislation, doctrine and jurisprudence) into practice<\/li>\n<li>Applying various methods covered during the year in a project designed to prepare students for oral exams through role plays in the form of a mock trial.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>2.\u00a0Success Strategies<\/h6>\n<p>As a complement to certain courses and related practical work, this remediation activity and coaching, provided by the teaching assistant, focuses on implementing strategies in terms of methodology, clarification of course content and the motivation and\u00a0mobilisation\u00a0of students.<\/p>\n<h6>3.\u00a0Individual Coaching<\/h6>\n<p>These individual, tailored meetings between the student and teaching assistant are created based on\u00a0trust, and\u00a0include an effective follow-up of the student throughout their undergraduate studies. These\u00a0meetings are scheduled at the student&rsquo;s request.<\/p>\n<h6>4.\u00a0Educational Support<\/h6>\n<p>These support sessions are\u00a0organised\u00a0in small groups. They are designed to support students throughout the year, according to their needs and specific requests. Their primary purpose is to help student to understand legal matters,\u00a0organise their workload and prepare for exams.<\/p>\n<h6>5.\u00a0Practical Workshops<\/h6>\n<p>These sessions allow students to immerse themselves in legal life. Activities include\u00a0attending a trial at the Appeals Court,\u00a0visiting Belgian and European courts and parliamentary institutions, hearing\u00a0testimonies from various figures from the legal world\u00a0(e.g. lawyers, judges, etc.), among others.\u00a0Linked to other teachings included in the Bachelor&rsquo;s\u00a0programme, these workshops allow students to develop their critical thinking skills and contribute to gradually building their\u00a0capacity\u00a0for interdisciplinary legal analysis.<\/p>\n<h6>6.\u00a0Summer Remediation Workshops<\/h6>\n<p>These sessions are\u00a0organised\u00a0by the teaching assistant to best help students prepare for study leave and their second examination session.
