J&rsquo;h\u00e9site \u00e0 vous le dire!<\/em> <em>J&rsquo;ai eu un tr\u00e8s mauvais professeur de physique<\/em><em> quantique\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, a d&rsquo;abord plaisant\u00e9 Alain Aspect en r\u00e9pondant \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re question des \u00e9tudiants ce jeudi 12 f\u00e9vrier dans l&rsquo;auditoire La Fontaine sur la Plaine de Nimy, \u00e0 l&rsquo;occasion de sa journ\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;UMONS. \u00ab\u00a0<em>La vraie raison, c&rsquo;est que c&rsquo;est absolument essentiel<\/em>, a ensuite repris plus s\u00e9rieusement l&rsquo;invit\u00e9 prestigieux du jour. <em>Si on regarde un petit peu l&rsquo;histoire de la physique, on s&rsquo;aper\u00e7oit qu&rsquo;au d\u00e9but du 20\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, on a deux r\u00e9volutions: la relativit\u00e9 et la physique quantique. La relativit\u00e9 n&rsquo;a aucun impact sur notre vie. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 dans laquelle vous vivez a \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9e par la physique quantique. C&rsquo;est la physique quantique qui a permis d&rsquo;inventer les transistors, le laser, qui ont conduit \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;information et de la communication. Les gens qui ont invent\u00e9 cela, ne ne sont pas des bricoleurs dans un coin, ce sont les plus grands physiciens de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque. La physique quantique a boulevers\u00e9 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, a-t-il ajout\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Durant une bonne heure, une petite centaine d&rsquo;\u00e9tudiants de chimie et de physique, toutes classes confondues, ont eu l\u2019occasion d\u2019\u00e9changer avec cet invit\u00e9 de marque \u00e0 propos notamment de ses travaux r\u00e9volutionnaires dans le domaine de la physique quantique.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2209 alignright\" style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: 400;font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size: 14px\" src=\"https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-990x660.jpg 990w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-30x20.jpg 30w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-60x40.jpg 60w, https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/app\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/DSC_6146-360x240.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>M\u00e9daille d\u2019or du CNRS en 2005, laur\u00e9at le prix Wolf en 2010, de la m\u00e9daille Albert-Einstein en 2012 ou encore du prix Balzan et de la m\u00e9daille Niels Bohr en 2013, Alain Aspect a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9compens\u00e9 en 2022 du prix Nobel de Physique. Une distinction partag\u00e9e avec deux autres chercheurs, l\u2019Am\u00e9ricain John F. Clauser et l\u2019Autrichien Anton Zeilinger, pour leurs travaux exp\u00e9rimentaux sur l\u2019intrication qui ont permis d\u2019appr\u00e9hender le c\u0153ur de la th\u00e9orie quantique.<\/p>\n<p>Un peu timides au d\u00e9but face \u00e0 cet interlocuteur \u00e0 la fois p\u00e9dagogue, pr\u00e9cis, curieux et heureux surtout transmettre ses connaissances, les \u00e9tudiants pr\u00e9sents ont ensuite encha\u00een\u00e9 les questions, sous le regard de Claude Semay, chef du service de physique nucl\u00e9aire et subnucl\u00e9aire et pr\u00e9sident du d\u00e9partement de physique, et de Michel Vou\u00e9, le Doyen de la Facult\u00e9 des Sciences. L&rsquo;occasion notamment pour Alain Aspect d&rsquo;aborder le probl\u00e8me de la mati\u00e8re noire. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Vous observez le mouvements des galaxies, vous essayez de l&rsquo;observer par les lois de Newton, \u00e7a ne marche pas. Et donc il y a une solution pour r\u00e9gler le probl\u00e8me, c&rsquo;est de dire qu&rsquo;il existe de la mati\u00e8re qu&rsquo;on ne voit pas et qui est r\u00e9partie dans la galaxie. Et si je la mets judicieusement, tout s&rsquo;explique, en gardant les lois de Newton. Il ne faut pas penser que c&rsquo;est une histoire farfelue. On a un exemple au 19\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;histoire de la plan\u00e8te Neptune<\/em>, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le chercheur.<em> Le probl\u00e8me c&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;on cherche depuis 30 ans. On a pas encore r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 observer la mati\u00e8re noire. Chaque fois qu&rsquo;on fait un progr\u00e8s, on devient capable de poser des questions qu&rsquo;on ne pouvait m\u00eame pas imaginer avant d&rsquo;avoir fait ce progr\u00e8s. Par exemple, c&rsquo;est en clarifiant nos id\u00e9es sur l&rsquo;intrication qu&rsquo;on a eu l&rsquo;id\u00e9e\u00a0 d&rsquo;un certain nombre de technologies quantiques, et en particulier de l&rsquo;ordinateur quantique<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 toutes les interrogations des \u00e9tudiants et peut-\u00eatre suscit\u00e9 des vocations, Alain Aspect a ensuite encha\u00een\u00e9 avec un autre moment d&rsquo;\u00e9change, en anglais cette fois, en compagnie des chercheurs de l&rsquo;UMONS.
