Prior to visiting Belgium, I already had high expectations for studying at Umons, The Warocqu\u00e9 School of Business and Economics (FWEG). Most of them were met. In addition, I had the opportunity become familiar with the peculiar Belgian culture, as well as to get acquainted with a new student community. The most important lesson learned during the study abroad program is that you need to adapt to every community which you are a part of, but maintain your unique personality and values. This will help you to fit in, to achieve your goals, and to be more flexible. At the same time, you need to completely rely on yourself but \u201ctake\u201d something from opportunities, people, and one-of-a-kind situations in which you have the luck or misfortune to be. Looking back to the five months spent in Mons, I would recommend students participate in a study abroad program because it enhances their mindset and opens doors for students to achieve their professional goals. This experience was very important and decisive for me, since in the near future I plan to continue my education in Belgium as a doctoral researcher.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \u00ab\u00a0My Erasmus experience in Mons was a mindful choice. My desire was to study abroad and improve my language skills: Mons turned out to be just perfect! Being a university city, I got to meet people from completely different corners of the world. On the cultural and professional sides, Mons offered me many enriching experiences and beautiful moments from fast-paced and intense courses, interactive classes, group assignments and exams, to parties and wonderful trips with the new friends I had made. I would love to thank all the teachers for being so kind and welcoming. My best advice is to seize this opportunity and make the best out of the experience!\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n I came to UMONS to work on a study about family business, more precisely about non-family managers in family businesses. When I first arrived, I was a little bit worried as this was all new to me. However, very early on, my mentor helped me structure and define my approach to this research. I started it with a theoretical part, and pursued with a statistical analysis, which turned out to be the toughest, yet most exciting part of the project. It brought me to reason and focus on the data provided by the University in order to find an original and efficient solution to my hypothesis. Even more so as I learned in the process how to use a new, very intuitive and complete statistical software.<\/em><\/p>\n I think that this experience taught me how to structure and prioritize a complex project to find exhaustive and clear solutions. Facing this challenge helped me open my mind and horizons, pushing myself beyond my own limits, even more so as I did it in a foreign language. I can do nothing but recommend such an internship: an international experience will always teach you a lot, as person, a student and a future worker.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n
