Expertise – Geophysics Unit
The Geophysics Unit of the Department of Fundamental and Applied Geology (Polytechnic Faculty) has accumulated over the years an important experience in various fields of geological exploration. Thus, it offers its expertise in the following areas :
Environmental issues
- Geological risks: soil collapse, ground movements, detection and delimitation of old foundations and mines ;
- Search for natural or anthropic cavities, networks, buried objects, underground anomalies ;
- Karst studies ;
- Detection of spring supply areas, determination of catchment well locations, delineation of former landfills ;
- Detection of bodies, magnetic masses, seams, … ;
- Radon detection (second major cause of lung cancer).
Mining prospecting
- Recognition of the deposit: geological limits, lateral variations, faults, … ;
- Search for old mining works (mine shafts, galleries, etc.) ;
- Thickness and extension of the cover lands ;
- Search for cryptokarstification, alteration corridors, faults, … .
Subsurface mapping and imaging
- Auscultation and characterization of the integrity of art works; ;
- Determining the limits of rippability ;
- Computer processing and development of new applications ;
- 2D or 3D geological modeling ;
- Mapping of measurements and associated database.
We propose to examine together the solutions best adapted to your problem, both on the technical and financial levels.
