Information and Communication Unit
The Information and Communication Unit of the ESHS is in charge of a range of courses in communication, journalism and media studies for students of the Bachelor of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Its research activities are devoted to the study of media and journalism. They are currently carried out through three research axes:
- The professional identities, careers, employment and working conditions in journalism;
- The evolution of the media sector, organisational contexts and working relationships ;
- The changes, innovations and permanence of journalistic practices.
The unit supervises several doctoral theses. It is also closely associated with the Laboratory of Journalistic Practices and Identities (LaPIJ), an inter-university research center (ULB-UMONS) which aims to respond to the need to analyse, as a teacher and researcher, the transformations of the journalistic profession, the mutations of professions and identities, as well as the emergence of new figures in the information media sector. Finally, the unit works to build important links with other institutional partners, as well as with actors in the Belgian media sector.
