Mathematical Logic Unit

The Mathematical Logic Unit of the University of Mons was founded in 1973 by Maurice Boffa (1939-2001), who was its director from 1973 until his death. The unit is now headed by Christian Michaux and Françoise Point.

The research of the unit is focused on model theory and its applications, mainly to algebra, and on certain aspects of computability.

The courses given by the unit concern elementary mathematics and algebra in BAC 1 and various courses in mathematical logic from BAC 2 onwards. The unit is also in charge of the management of the Aggregation and the didactic finality of the Master in Mathematical Sciences.
