Antoniya Toncheva s\u2018est vue d\u00e9cerner tout r\u00e9cemment en Bulgarie le prix \u00ab Pythagore \u00bb dans la cat\u00e9gorie jeune chercheur. Il s\u2019agit du plus prestigieux prix remis par le Minist\u00e8re de la Recherche et de l\u2019Education Nationale bulgare pour une activit\u00e9 scientifique effectu\u00e9e durant les trois derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu un master \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bordeaux et ensuite un doctorat \u00e0 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Bulgare des Science en Chimie macromol\u00e9culaire\u00a0avec comme\u00a0directeur de th\u00e8se le Prof. Iliya Rashkov,<\/span>\u00a0Antoniya compl\u00e8te actuellement a formation \u00e0 l\u2019UMONS o\u00f9 elle effectue une recherche scientifique au sein du\u00a0Service des Mat\u00e9riaux Polym\u00e8res et Composites (SMPC)<\/a>\u00a0depuis janvier 2015 sous la direction du Prof. Philippe Dubois et du Dr. Jean-Marie Raquez.<\/p>\n

Le travail prim\u00e9 d\u2019Antoniya porte sur la production de nouveaux mat\u00e9riaux micro- et nanofibreux obtenus \u00e0 base de polym\u00e8res biocompatibles et bior\u00e9sorbables par la technique d\u2019\u00e9lectrofilage (en anglais \u00abelectrospinning\u00bb). Ces recherches ont \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ues et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es en grande partie au sein du\u00a0Laboratoire des Polym\u00e8res Biologiquement Actifs (LPBA)<\/a>\u00a0mais des \u00e9tudes en collaboration avec le SMPC ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9galement men\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

L\u2019avantage de la technique de l\u2019\u00e9lectrofilage est qu\u2019elle est tr\u00e8s simple \u00e0 appliquer. Le transfert du dispositif laboratoire vers l\u2019industrie est assez ais\u00e9, permettant ainsi la production de mat\u00e9riaux nanostructur\u00e9s se caract\u00e9risant par une grande surface sp\u00e9cifique et leur l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, les efforts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 concentr\u00e9s dans la production de mat\u00e9riaux nanofibreux \u00e0 base de l\u2019acide polylactique contenant des compos\u00e9s biologiquement actifs comme la curcumine, une mol\u00e9cule d\u2019origine naturelle contenue dans les racines de la plante Curcuma longa\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>et qui\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>distingue par un ensemble de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s th\u00e9rapeutiques (anticoagulantes, antioxydantes, antibact\u00e9riennes, etc.).<\/p>\n

Les travaux ont permis de d\u00e9montrer que les mats charg\u00e9s avec la curcumine poss\u00e8dent une activit\u00e9 anticoagulante lorsqu’ils sont mis en contact avec le sang ou le plasma sanguin humain, inhibant l’adh\u00e9sion et l’agr\u00e9gation des plaquettes et des globules rouges.<\/p>\n

Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019il est possible d\u2019obtenir des mats contenant plusieurs mol\u00e9cules biologiquement actives de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s diverses et o\u00f9 l\u2019interaction ind\u00e9sirable entre les m\u00e9dicaments est \u00e9vit\u00e9e par l\u2019\u00e9lectrofilage simultan\u00e9 de deux solutions s\u00e9par\u00e9es. Des \u00e9tudes in vitro ont prouv\u00e9 la compatibilit\u00e9 des mat\u00e9riaux avec des cellules souches humaines et leur activit\u00e9 antibact\u00e9rienne contre des bact\u00e9ries Gram positif (S. aureus).<\/p>\n

Les mats obtenus peuvent trouver une application potentielle, notamment dans le domaine biom\u00e9dical pour la fabrication de pansements actifs et bior\u00e9sorbables, de syst\u00e8mes de relargage cibl\u00e9 des mol\u00e9cules th\u00e9rapeutiques, de mat\u00e9riaux appropri\u00e9s pour les besoins de l\u2019implantologie ou pour la m\u00e9decine r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rative.<\/p>\n

D\u2019autre part, les recherches ont port\u00e9 sur l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s m\u00e9caniques des mats et sur la conception de nouveaux \u00e9quipements pour l\u2019\u00e9lectrofilage dans un champ centrifuge (production des tissus de grande surface dans des temps tr\u00e8s court).<\/p>\n

Les recherches actuelles sont destin\u00e9es \u00e0 la conception d\u2019aiguilles endoscopiques \u00e0 m\u00e9moire de forme et \u00e0 leur actionnement multiple pour des applications endoscopiques. Ce type d\u2019outils pourrait ainsi \u00eatre impl\u00e9ment\u00e9 dans le d\u00e9veloppement de nouveaux dispositifs m\u00e9dicaux, utilis\u00e9s lors d\u2019interventions th\u00e9rapeutiques par des gastroent\u00e9rologues afin de r\u00e9aliser des op\u00e9rations chirurgicales encore moins invasives pour les patients.<\/p>\n
