Social Economy Chair (chairES)
Who are we?
The Social Economy Chair (chairES) at UMONS is one of four chairES (ULiège, UMONS, ULB and UCLouvain) supported by the Walloon Region to strengthen teaching and research in social economy, in close collaboration with the social enterprise ecosystem.
What do we do?
More specifically, the UMONS chairES :
- Conducts research on the following topics:
- the contribution of social economy organisations to the socio-environmental transition;
- Human Resource Management in social economy enterprises (turnover, motivation, and meaningful work);
- the resilience of cooperatives.
- Contributes to the management and teaching of two certificate programmes : an inter-university certificate in social enterprise management (Certificat inter-universités en management des entreprises d’économie sociale) and a certificate in nonprofit management.( Certificat interuniversitaire en Management associatif (Charleroi) – ULB)
- Participates in working groups dedicated to knowledge transfer between research and field organizations. It contributes to the co-creation of tools and knowledge supporting the development of the social economy, notably through the escap project.
- Supervises internships, masters theses, and doctoral dissertations in the field of social economy.
- Provides, upon request, specific studies for organizations active in the social economy.
