{"id":17,"date":"2021-11-19T11:34:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T10:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/phrr\/research-activities\/"},"modified":"2021-11-19T11:58:24","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T10:58:24","slug":"research-activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.umons.ac.be\/phrr\/en\/research-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Research activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Research projects developed in PhRR concern organism adaptation to different physiological and pathophysiological conditions, with a particular focus on muscle tissue and its relationship with oxygen.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, PhRR has developped 3 research axes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Respiratory pathologies (COPD: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, OSA : Obstructive Sleep Apnea),<\/li>\n<li>Exercise training,<\/li>\n<li>Hereditary and acquired myopathies (DMA: Disuse Muscle Atrophy, FSHD: Facio-Scapulo-Humeral Musclular Dystrophy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Research projects are developed in the willingness of a translational approach and combine:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical studies,<\/li>\n<li>Experimentation in vivo (muscle deconditioning\/reconditioning, continuous and intermittent hypoxia exposure, transgene electroporation, \u2026),<\/li>\n<li>Mechanistic studies in cell culture in vitro (macrophages, myoblastes, myotubes, isolated myofibres and satellite cells \u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key research projects<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Muscle-Brain communication in the context of obesity: which impact of exercise training?<\/li>\n<li>Effect of intermittent hypoxia on respiratory and locomotor muscles in the context of OSA.<\/li>\n<li>Effect of hypoxaemia on adipo\/myokines in the context of COPD.<\/li>\n<li>DUX4-HIF1 cross-talk in FSHD.<\/li>\n<li>Adiponectin pathway: a therapeutical target to counteract muscle deconditioning ?<\/li>\n<li>Muscle-targeting of antisense agents as therapy for myopathies.<\/li>\n<li>Translational study of the relationship between muscular and respiratory functions in patients with FSHD: development of clinical and molecular criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Collaborative projects and consortium<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ORGANCROSSTALK consortium \u2013 Health Institute<\/li>\n<li>Lab.
