Repr\u00e9sentation spatiale et r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle : Une recherche fondamentale qui implique ing\u00e9nieurs architectes et sp\u00e9cialistes de l\u2019\u00e9ducation<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dans le cadre d\u2019une recherche financ\u00e9e par le FRS-FNRS,\u00a0Natacha Duroisin<\/a>\u00a0(Aspirante F.R.S. \u2013 FNRS, Service M\u00e9thodologie et formation, Prof. M. Demeuse) et C\u00e9line Durant (Master 1 en Sciences de l\u2019\u00e9ducation) m\u00e8nent diff\u00e9rentes exp\u00e9riences \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 Polytechnique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Mons.<\/p>\n

Lors de celles-ci, les futurs Ing\u00e9nieurs civils architectes naviguent dans une ville virtuelle strictement param\u00e9tr\u00e9e. L\u2019objectif de l\u2019\u00e9tude est d\u2019\u00e9valuer les performances de m\u00e9morisation visuelle et les repr\u00e9sentations spatiales des \u00e9tudiants en d\u00e9but et en fin de formation. Les r\u00e9sultats de cette exp\u00e9rimentation seront pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s lors du\u00a0congr\u00e8s de l\u2019Association Internationale de P\u00e9dagogie Universitaire (AIPU)<\/a>\u00a0qui aura lieu \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Mons du 18 mai au 22 mai 2014.<\/p>\n

L\u2019environnement virtuel utilis\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 via City Engine par Geoffrey Hismans (Technicien dans le Service de G\u00e9nie Architectural et Urbain de la Facult\u00e9 Polytechnique dirig\u00e9 par le Prof. H. Wilquin). Sur la base du cahier de charges \u00e9labor\u00e9 par N. Duroisin de la Facult\u00e9 de Psychologie et des Sciences de l\u2019Education, Geoffrey Hismans a param\u00e9tr\u00e9 l\u2019environnement afin que celui-ci prenne l\u2019allure d\u2019une ville dans laquelle il est possible de modifier toutes les caract\u00e9ristiques du b\u00e2ti (hauteurs des immeubles, couleur, apparence\u2026).<\/p>\n

Les \u00e9tudiants qui participent \u00e0 ces exp\u00e9riences r\u00e9pondent d\u2019abord \u00e0 un questionnaire portant sur leurs habilet\u00e9s spatiales (traduction et adaptation du questionnaire d\u2019Hegarty, 2002).<\/p>\n

Dans un deuxi\u00e8me temps, \u00e9quip\u00e9s d\u2019un casque immersif et d\u2019un joystick, les \u00e9tudiants r\u00e9alisent diff\u00e9rentes activit\u00e9s dans la ville virtuelle. La premi\u00e8re s\u00e9rie d\u2019activit\u00e9s consiste \u00e0 reproduire \u00e0 l\u2019identique un itin\u00e9raire d\u00e9j\u00e0 parcouru (reproduction d\u2019itin\u00e9raires). La deuxi\u00e8me s\u00e9rie d\u2019activit\u00e9s les am\u00e8ne \u00e0 effectuer un parcours en sens inverse en faisant appel au processus cognitif de d\u00e9centration (Piaget & Inhelder, 1948 ; Beaudichon & Bideaud, 1979 ; Borjon Sultan, 2010). La troisi\u00e8me s\u00e9rie d\u2019activit\u00e9s, appel\u00e9e \u00ab wayfinding \u00bb (Gluck, 1990 ; Lawton, 1996 ; Golledge, 1999 ; Hund & Padgitt, 2010), les conduit \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser un itin\u00e9raire sans l\u2019avoir pr\u00e9alablement emprunt\u00e9. Il s\u2019agit en fait de trouver un raccourci.<\/p>\n

Dans un troisi\u00e8me temps, les \u00e9tudiants parcourent cinq itin\u00e9raires dans une autre ville virtuelle pourvue de nombreux rep\u00e8res et dessinent ensuite leur carte de la ville. Ils sont ensuite soumis \u00e0 un test psychom\u00e9trique destin\u00e9 \u00e0 recueillir des informations sur leurs capacit\u00e9s cognitives dans le domaine spatial.<\/p>\n

Un des objectifs poursuivis est de d\u00e9terminer les diff\u00e9rences de performances entre les \u00e9tudiants de premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e de Bachelier et ceux de deuxi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e de Master, et de les discuter en regard des programmes de formation dispens\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
