English studies: Literature, Language, Interpretation and Translation
The English Unit: Literature, Language, Interpretation and Translation (ELLIT) teaches language, literature, culture, translation, interpretation and communication. The varied profiles of the Unit's members ensure that teaching and research practices are interdisciplinary, combining theory and practice.
The English Unit continues some of the work of the Translation Studies and Corpus Linguistics Unit (TLC), the Specialised Translation and Terminology Unit (TTESLA) and the American Studies Center (AmSC). Its research and outreach activities are designed to highlight and reinforce the training of future translators, interpreters and teachers and are structured around themes which are consistent with its teaching activities.
