Research activities

The main fields of the metallurgy lab research are electroless nickel deposition, corrosion of metallic alloys, recycling of WEEE and metal matrix composites. The expertise of the lab in the field of electroless nickel deposition is recognized internationally. The lab is working with the leading firms in the field of electroless nickel-boron plating. Concerning the corrosion of metallic alloys, the specific lab studies lead on stress corrosion cracking, biocorrosion of galvanized steel and rouging corrosion in pharmaceutical environment. It also focusses on the use of mechanical alloying to improve the properties of WC-Co composites and on the sintering technologies used to densify the material.
