Atomic Physics and Astrophysics Unit

Teaching and research laboratory focused on atomic physics and its applications in astrophysics, plasma physics, laser physics and material science.

The atomic physics and astrophysics unit directed by Pascal Quinet is a research group whose activities are focused on the study of atomic processes of particular interest for the development of other scientific fields such as astrophysics, plasma physics, nuclear fusion, laser spectroscopy and material science. To do so, different theoretical, semi-empirical and experimental methods among the most elaborate currently available are implemented to obtain fundamental atomic parameters. This team of researchers has acquired a worldwide reputation in this field and actively collaborates with about thirty international laboratories located on all continents.
