Electromagnetism and Telecommunications Unit

Welcome to the Electromagnetism and Telecommunication department of the Faculty of Engineering. More than twenty people are presently working in the department which is mainly active in photonic technology including optical communication systems, fiber-based sensing and optical networks.

The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art metrology equipment, with a clean room facility to build fiber Bragg gratings and with dedicated temperature-stabilized labs. The department gets funding from regional (e.g. Walloon Region DOG6), national (e.g. Belgian Science Policy) and European (e.g. Network of Excellence, Feder) agencies as well as from industrial partners.
