Dimitrios Papathanasiou departs for Istanbul
Dimitrios Papathanasiou, a young mathematician of Greek origin, has spent several months developing his research in linear dynamics within our team. Thanks to Complexys, he completed a six-month postdoctoral fellowship supervised by Karl Grosse-Erdmann from 2019 to 2020. This stay allowed them to advance the theory of weighted shifts on trees. A few years later, Dimitrios undertook a new postdoctoral position in our department from April 2022 to August 2023, funded by an Excellence Grant awarded by the Research Council of the University of Mons to Quentin Menet. In collaboration with Quentin, Dimitrios then introduced a new family of operators: the shift operators. It is with great pleasure that we learn that at the conclusion of this postdoc, Dimitrios has secured a position as Professor at Sabanci University in Istanbul (Turkey). We wish him all the best for the future.
