TRAIL Summer Workshop 2024

Last week wrapped up the TRAIL Summer Workshop 2024, a two-week gathering in Lisbon that brought together researchers for collaboration and hands-on work in AI. The event wasn’t just about research—it was a chance to dive into Lisbon’s fast-growing AI scene and make new connections.

A major highlight was the evening at Ferroviário, where TRAIL and partner organization researchers met, exchanged ideas, and took in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. The event continued with a city tour that showcased Lisbon’s unique mix of culture and history.

Midway through the workshop, team leaders met to review progress, offering feedback that helped steer the final stretch of the program. Another highlight was a visit to Taguspark, where Portuguese researchers presented their latest AI work.

Outside the sessions, the weekends were packed with activities like surfing, paddleboarding, and climbing—an ideal break from the research grind and a chance to build stronger team connections.

TRAIL continues to push forward with international partnerships and AI innovation, and we’re looking forward to the results of this year’s workshop. Expect new papers and code in the coming months.
