On May 15, 2025, ISIA Lab (UMONS) took part in XR CONNECT in Charleroi — a dynamic event gathering XR professionals across Wallonia. From cutting-edge demos to impactful research projects funded by Wal4XR, the day showcased how immersive technologies are shaping the future of industry and innovation.

XR CONNECT Highlights: Wallonia’s XR Ecosystem in Action!

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the ISIA Lab had the pleasure of participating in XR CONNECT, an event organized by Stereopsia and XR Wallonia HITT, hosted at the A6K tech hub in Charleroi. The afternoon and evening were filled with networking, demos, and talks around immersive technologies (XR, AR, VR, MR), bringing together industrial, academic, and institutional stakeholders.

The event’s goal was to bridge immersive use cases with Wallonia’s strategic economic sectors, highlighting concrete and innovative XR applications.

🔍 XR CONNECT: A Rich and Inspiring Program

Highlights of the day included:

  • Real-world XR case studies, such as the launch of the Smurfs VR game by Vigo Creative and immersive solutions by Arduinna Silva.
  • A focus on XR training with Technocité and on the European outreach of HITT through the HITT Internationale platform.
  • Inspiring talks on the Belgian XR Report in Wallonia, digital twins, and the use of XR at Liège Airport.

🧠 ISIA Lab at the Heart of XR Research in Wallonia

Several research initiatives led by ISIA Lab (UMONS) were spotlighted during the event, particularly PhD theses funded by the Wal4XR program:
