Clinical Orthopedagogy Unit

The Clinical Orthopedagogy Unit is particularly interested in supporting people with neurodevelopmental disorders (intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, etc.) throughout their lives and in different contexts.

The department of Clinical Orthopedagogy service provides education and conducts research within the field of psychological and psychoeducational aspects of disability. We have a specific focus on people with neurodevelopmental disorders (intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, dual diagnosis...) throughout their lives (from infancy to adulthood, up to the stages of aging, with specific attention paid to the transition periods), and within different contexts (e.g. early childhood care, out-of-school care, inclusive school environment, support services, residential environments...). We aim to promote the most innovative, qualitative, and evidence-based practices towards quality of life, inclusion and full social participation of this target audience. Person-centred support and self-determination are at the core of our practices and we pay careful attention to develop the most inclusive practices from research to intervention.

From September 2022, along with the University of Brussels (ULB) and the University of Liège (ULiège), the Clinical Orthopedagogy Department will organise a new master in Clinical Orthopedagogy. For more information, please visit: https://web.umons.ac.be/fpse/fr/formations/m2-morthc/
