Research activities

The research activities conducted at EPEU involve two main streams of focus: power systems and markets, and power & energy conversion.  Research is carried out through PhD theses and collaborative projects with public and/or private partners.  More specifically, our group carries out researches in the following main topics:

  • Smart grids and micro-grids (data analytics, long-term planning, interactions models, power quality aspects)
  • Energy markets
  • Net zero energy builds and districts (energy management, scheduling and control)
  • Renewable energies and storage systems (wind and photovoltaic applications)
  • Wireless power transfer
  • Power electronics for railways and space applications (design, optimization, control)
  • Modeling of electromagnetic devices using numerical methods

Our unit is also associated with the following UMONS research institutes :
