As part of the Research Institute for Health Sciences and Technology, the OCT group offers an interdisciplinary environment and cutting-edge technologies for the development of innovative research projects in basic and clinical research. The group is devoted to study the tissue- and organ-crosstalk in models of human diseases, particularly brain, muscular, renal, and metabolic diseases. Our research involves translational approaches and is conducted at the behavioural, (electro)physiological, cellular, and molecular levels. Our long expertise in the study of preclinical in vivo disease models is combined to advanced techniques in cell culture (cell lines, primary cells, spheroids, and tissue culture), rodent imaging, fluid metabolome and organokine analysis, to further study the complex interplay between tissues and organs taking place at different stages of development and treatment of diseases. Moreover, the Health Institute invests in the ambitious development of human body on chip, reinforcing our research.
Therefore, the OCT group is looking for highly motivated postdoc candidates interested in carrying high-level research in the following topics:
– Development of 3D organ cultures from animal and human cells, with a special interest in adipose, renal and brain tissues interacting in the context of obesity.
– Development of an MRM-based multiplexed quantification assay for murine and human organokines.
– Setting up single-cell metabonomics expertise
– Imaging of animal models (mainly mice, less often rats (in vivo), isolated organs of larger animals (ex vivo)) and possibly cell pellets or samples (Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Spectroscopy, Bioluminescence Imaging, Fluorescence and Photoacoustic Imaging).
