Conclusion

Peptoids are an emergent class of biosynthetic foldamers finding applications in area such as chiral resolution or catalysis [10-11]. CD and NMR are the common techniques used to decipher the secondary structures of peptoid oligomers in solution [5-6]. IMMS represents an elegant way to access to the gas-phase structure of ions. This work demonstrates the influence of the charge, required for the MS analysis, on the gas phase structure of peptoid ions. The charge effect may however be reduced by the basic function protection as demonstrated upon acetylation of Nspe peptoids. In contrast with polymers, a linear trend between CCS and DP appears for both the loop and the helix structures. The comparison of experimental to theoretical CCS is thereby required for the structural analysis showing the complementarity between computational chemistry and the MS techniques.
