Dutch Language, Culture and Translation Studies
Headed by Professor Gudrun Vanderbauwhede, the Dutch Language, Culture and Translation Studies Unit (TraLaNed) offers courses in Dutch language, culture, translation, interpretation, communication and didactics. Through their professional, scientific and pedagogical expertise, its members work to train future translators, interpreters, language experts and teachers who have Dutch as a foreign language in their language combination. To this end, the Unit supports students both inside and outside the university setting, by offering them immersive activities designed to introduce them to foreign culture and the professional market, both in Belgium and internationally: exchange projects (from the first year), language stays (Bachelor) and professional placements (Master). The research of the Dutch Language, Culture and Translation Studies Unit is based on themes that are consistent with its teaching activities.
