The UMONS health institute is glad to welcome a new postdoctoral fellow: Dr Emmanuel ESTEVE MD (Nephrology) PhD (physiology, physiopathology) thanks to the C2W Come to Wallonia / Connect with Wallonia program.

 

 

C2W fundings are granted to experimented researchers to develop innovative and ambitious projects during a two-year visit in Wallonia. His project called :”Bioenergetic and mitochondrial metabonomic of podocyte injury – application to focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis” will be overseen by UMONS Pr. AE Declèves (Laboratoire de Biochimie Métabolique et Moléculaire) and Pr. JM Colet (Laboratoire de Biologie Humaine et Toxicologie).

 

 

It will focus on a kidney disease called Focal and Segmental GlomeruloSclerosis (FSGS), one of the main glomerular causes of end stage renal disease. His project aims to develop new biomarkers in this pathology to pave the way towards personalized medicine and physiopathology-based therapeutics development.
