RESEARCH – The REUNICE project

Research and its development are at the heart of the EUNICE, which is multiplying initiatives aimed at bringing it closer to society (scientific dissemination events). It is also stimulating new research projects involving several universities in the consortium, drawing on the local resources of each.

Among EUNICE’s achievements in terms of research, we can highlight the award, in 2020, of a project linked to the central project financed by the Horizon 2020 programme. The aim of this project is to align EUNICE’s education, research and innovation strategies and, therefore, to develop support mechanisms for research. This is the REUNICE project, which aims to contribute to the development of a society based on knowledge and innovation and focused on smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. In this context, REUNICE aims to establish effective cooperation between science and society, recruiting new talent for science and combining scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility. REUNICE’s four main areas of concern are: open science, cooperation with the business world, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability in science. More tangibly, EUNICE is working on the development of research support tools such as:

  • a plan for the development of the HRS4R (Human Resource Strategy for Researchers) strategy within the consortium.
  • a platform for exchanging expertise to promote the value of research
  • a handbook of recommendations for including diversity, particularly gender diversity, in the writing of texts relating to the REUNICE project.
  • the organisation of Summer Schools for doctoral students from our universities on the theme of sustainable science in Catania

EUNICE’s ambition is to create an international research institute devoted to materials science, an example of the concrete results of the collaborations between EUNICE partners in the field of research. This project was born in the wake of the Institut Transfrontalier Matériaux UMONS – UPHF (Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France) which will also continue its development through EUNICE.
