Thesis topic

Audiovisual Signal Processing Informed by Semantic Understanding using Deep Learning

  • Type
    Doctorate Post-doctorate
  • Keywords
Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Neural Networks

Description

This research will advance the quality of audiovisual signal processing through approaches that cast the signal processing problem in a machine learning framework, and improve the quality of it thanks to semantic understanding of what is being processed (informed signal processing). This represents a radical emerging change in signal processing research, where handcrafted algorithms are being replaced by end-to-end machine learning, especially deep learning, as well as neuromorphic computing. Applications to sound and video enhancement and understanding will be considered. The research will allow the candidate to develop a unique and transferable expertise in advanced machine learning, AI and Big Data. The researcher will be integrated within a significant group of deep learning researchers involved in regional and international collaboration with worldleading labs in the area.
