Evacuation following the start of a fire. Integration of augmented reality in a training tool based on a simulated fire in virtual reality

Fire in wide public buildings is one of the research fields of our laboratory. Through our real research works, we are able to predict the smoke propagation inside the building on fire and the evacuation of the people. We have built a training tool based on the fire simulation in virtual reality. This technology gives good results but it needs the modelling in details of the interior building. The technology of virtual augmented reality doesn’t need the deep geometry modelling but it needs to control the movements of the people to correctly rendering the fire and smoke. The objective of the research work is to adapt the present training tool for the virtual augmented reality to improve the people behaviour in case of fire.
