Description

Old age is defined as a major adjustment period. Indeed, the elder must adapt to a changing body and declining senses. The evolution of cognitive abilities also complicates adaptation to unknown environments (Platon & Cyrulnik, 2014). Thus, adaptation to a new living space, when he is faced with physical and/or cognitive disability, causes stress (Aragau & MorelBrochet, 2013). On this basis, gerontechnology aims to facilitate the independence and the adaptation of this aging population (Chen et al., 2014).

Therefore, the project focusses on the development and evaluation of an innovative, adapted and ethical gerontechnology centered on the creation and testing of virtual environments accessible via virtual reality. If technologies are at the heart of the project, special attention will be paid on the psychological aspects to ensure the acceptability of the developed prototype.
