PhD opportunity in the General, Organic and Biomedical Chemistry Unit (GOBC)

Votre mission

Within the framework of a Télévie project funded by the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS), a four-year PhD opportunity is available in the General, Organic and Biomedical Chemistry Unit (GOBC) looking to develop X-ray sensitive micellar nanocarriers. The research will involve (i) synthesizing a chemical library of azobenzene-based amphiphilic molecules; (ii) evaluating their self-assembly into micellar nanocarriers encapsulating chemotherapeutic compounds; (iii) investigating the stimuli-responsive drug release behavior of these nanocarriers and (iv) assessing their cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo.

Vos responsabilités

We are currently seeking a highly motivated PhD student to take part in this research project characterized by a high level of interdisciplinarity. The candidate should have experience in organic synthesis and related characterization techniques to produce a chemical library of azobenzene-based amphiphilic molecules. The candidate will explore the relationship between the structure of these molecules and their formulation within micellar nanocarriers along with encapsulated drugs. The candidate will aim to assess the stimuli-responsive drug release of these carriers both in vitro and in vivo. The candidate is expected to conduct research, write reports and articles, and give oral presentation in (inter)national conferences.

Votre profil

  • A Master’s degree or engineering school in either chemistry or pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences is required.
