International Women’s Day: Wall of Femme

March 8 marks International Women's Rights Day, formalized by the UN in 1977. This day is a reminder of the persistent inequalities between the sexes. To mark the occasion, the Eunice alliance, including UMONS, has launched an awareness-raising campaign. Through the Wall of Femme videos, women with inspiring personal and/or professional journeys were highlighted.

For International Women’s Day on 8th March, the EUNICE alliance decided to launch the Wall of Femme campaign to raise awareness and to highlight women in the academic field, whether they are teachers, researchers, students, or members of staff. The goal is to celebrate the diverse and incredible women in our network!

Each member of the EUNICE alliance interviewed a woman within their community whose personal and/or professional background is a source of inspiration. For UMONS, this is Aline Jassogne.

These women shared with us their journey in academia, the challenges they overcame, and their advice to young women dreaming of a similar path. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, they also reflected on what 8th March means to them.

A quiz on the history of women’s rights in the EU was also produced.
