As part of the Interreg Biocontrol 4.0 project, several Walloon, French and Flemish universities have joined forces to find reliable alternatives to synthetic pesticides. Among the various projects is the Trans-Pest project, through which the UMONS laboratory will test the effect of climate change on agricultural pests such as aphids and wireworms, and on their natural enemies such as ladybugs and lacewings. The aim is to offer farmers innovative biological control solutions to reduce pesticide use.

UMONS is preparing to renew the HRS4R label, which is essential for the attractiveness and European funding of research, by adhering to principles of quality and scientific integrity.

Belgian researchers of the Universities of Brussels (ULB, VUB), Mons (UMons), and Louvain (UCLouvain, KU Leuven) just published in the journal Nature a study dedicated to the decline in European bumblebee populations in the 21st century.

This year, the University of Mons has once again distinguished itself in the Shanghai World University Ranking by subject/field. This ranking was published in May 2021.

A list ranking the world's most cited and most influential scientists has just been published by researchers at Stanford University (USA). This list includes 15 researchers from our university, which confirms the quality of the scientific research carried out at UMONS.

The University of Mons' efforts in the fight against the pandemic are not limited to this screening platform. Other initiatives are currently being carried out by UMONS researchers to better understand the pandemic and its physiological and psychological impacts.
