UMONS again highly ranked in Ranking Shanghai 2023
UMONS has achieved outstanding results in the Shanghai 2023 domain rankings. The university tops the ranking of French-speaking Belgian universities in materials science/engineering and chemistry.
This very fine performance is also reflected in the overall Shanghai 2023 world ranking, where UMONS maintains its position among the top 900 places.
In detail:
- In the field of materials science, UMONS is ranked between 151st and 200th place, putting it in first place among all Belgian universities, on a par with KULeuven.
- In chemistry, UMONS achieved a ranking between 201st and 300th place, ranking third among Belgian universities and first among French-speaking institutions.
These results confirm those obtained in other rankings, notably the Times Higher Education ranking, where the UMONS once again ranks between 501st and 600th place among nearly 1,800 universities referenced.
The Shanghai ARWU rankings use five criteria to assess the best universities in each field: number of articles published, citation impact, international collaboration, publication in leading journals and staff awards.
UMONS has also been included in the overall Shanghai 2023 world ranking, with a position between 801st and 900th place. This ranking takes into account more than 2,500 institutions and is based on various academic and research performance indicators.
