Research activities

The research activities are organized in different themes:

  • Industrial chemical processes: chemical reactors, contact and separation processes, modelling of units and simulation of chemical processes, in the context of the purification of gaseous effluents by destruction of VOCs in catalytic reactors, and liquid effluents for the elimination of persistent organic micropollutants; reduction of air pollution, capture and conversion of CO2, …
  • Techno-economic and life cycle analyses of chemical processes;
  • Development and validation of analytical methods (chromatographic and spectrometric) off-line and on-line (Process Analytical Technology);
  • Bioprocesses for the production of compounds of interest by bacterial and fungal fermentation and cell culture, soil bioremediation, water treatment, CO2 capture by microalgae, …
  • Fire Safety engineering ;
  • Confined and under-ventilated fires: large-scale tests and validation of simulation models;
  • Major accident studies in industrial processes and land use planning around industrial sites, and emergency planning;
  • Total quality management.
