OPEN, TRANSPARENT, AND MERIT BASED RECRUITMENT (OTM-R)
The OTM-R policy promoted by the EU aims to
- Improve the information available to establish good recruitment practices,
- Encourage promoters and researchers to develop and use egalitarian recruitment procedures,
- Institutionalize the OTM-R policy through the university’s strategic orientations and the actions presented in the HRS4R action plan.
Since 2010, UMONS has been engaged in a human resources management process adhering to the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the European Union Code for the Recruitment of Researchers.
After an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the institution, UMONS proposed an action plan (see page HRS4R => link) in consultation with the researchers and administrative staff involved. The action plan is evaluated on a regular basis and updated to match to the needs expressed via the Euraxess steering committee and the UMONS consultation forums.
In order to support researchers and promoters, the Human Resources Department (HRD) provides, among others, personalized advice on request, a good practice sheet to support recruitment in accordance with the OTM-R principles as well as a template for better dissemination of job offers via the EURAXESS portal.
