At the UMONS Law School, there is a great relationship between the teachers and students based on mutual respect and dialogue.

There is a very human element to the teaching style here: the students are able to invest themselves in the subject, can consider the subject with a critical eye and can debate the main issues.

As such, the relevance of university teaching becomes clear – it not only trains students in a particular discipline, but also creates the future stakeholders in society

There is a pleasant atmosphere on the Mons campus, and I appreciate being able to teach small groups.

I take advantage of this and have been able to develop a more interactive teaching method, with various exercises and practical cases throughout the year. As such, the students can get a better understanding of legal concepts, which is relatively new for them.

Working closely with students also allows me talk to them and better understand their needs.

I have very happy memories of my time at UMONS, particularly because of the relationship we had with the teaching staff, the quality of the organisation and the friendly atmosphere here. I am still in contact with a number of my course mates from my time at UMONS, some of whom I now consider good friends. I am currently working in an international law firm in Brussels, which specialises in public and administrative law, and I teach Constitutional Law at Bachelor level here at UMONS.
