Housing

9 university residences and grouped “kots”

UMONS offers you the opportunity to stay in one of its  9 halls of residence, which are ideally spread around the city and are close to the university’s faculties. We have 820 places in accommodation ranging from double or triple rooms, studios or one-bedroom apartments, to single rooms with private or shared bathroom facilities.

Each hall of residence is unique; some are very small and offer complete tranquillity, while others are larger and offer a lively student atmosphere.

Last year, a new housing estate, the Red Cross housing estate, opened its doors. It is located just opposite the UMONS-UPKOT city, and is ideally situated between the Plaine de Nimy campus and the Warocqué Faculty.

In addition, the grouped “kots” (student housing) consist of several “kots” (usually between 6 and 10), and allow groups of students to take part in a common project (called “project kot”). Such projects focus on social, societal, cultural and student aspects.

Each residence also offers an internet connection. A laundry is available to students at the Cité Pierre Houzeau in Lehaie, the Cité de la Grande Triperie, the Cité KotsUMONS, the Cité de la Plaine and the Cité UMONS-UpKot. The Cités KotsUMONS, Franeau and Houzeau have a sports hall.

For students who cannot get a room in halls, we can offer them an alternative: intergenerational home-sharing through the non-profit organisation 1 Toit 2 Ages.

Finally, in Mons, many private landlords rent properties to students. You can consult the list of available housing at the UMONS Social Services. Students can also search for housing via www.inforjeunes.be
