After several remote editions, the UMONS reorganized this Saturday, March 26 a first Open House in person on its sites and campuses in Mons. Under a beautiful sun, hundreds of high school students, accompanied by their parents, walked through the 4 sites where our Faculties and Schools as well as our general services were present. A success before our next JPO, scheduled for Saturday June 25, just before the summer vacations.

The enthusiasm was palpable, as much for the UMONS members who organized the event as for the external visitors that Saturday morning. It must be said that it had been 2 years since the UMONS Open House could be held in person, so the expectation was high!

Days like this are ideal opportunities for high school students to glean as much information as possible for their future career as a higher education student. These events allow them to meet and discuss with professors, assistants and students in a friendly atmosphere, but also to discover the different campuses of the University, its residential halls, and to have an overview of the services and assistance offered to UMONS students.

Last Saturday, everything was done to prepare high school seniors for the big “jump” to higher education.

Philippe Dubois, UMONS Rector, who was present for the occasion, was able to appreciate the unprecedented turnout:

“There is nothing like direct contact with a member of the university community to make your choice. We are particularly pleased to see the large number of students and their parents at our various sites looking for information in view of this decisive choice for their future, whatever it may be!

Make a note of the dates of the next JPO (as we say in our jargon): Wednesday, May 18 at the Charleroi site and Saturday, June 25 at our Mons campuses.

In the meantime, the UMONS and all its services remain available to you via a virtual open house!
