UMONS is ranked 269th in the world for the research criterion and 3rd in the world for Francophone Belgian universities (out of 1,300 evaluated institutions).

For the sixth year in a row, UMONS is highly ranked on the “QS Ranking”.

In this 2022 edition, UMONS has maintained the same position as last year in the general ranking (between 651st and 700th place), despite an increase in the number of institutions analysed, which rose from 1,000 in June last year to 1,300 this year.

This puts UMONS in the top 50% of institutions worldwide. What’s more, our scores are above the median for three criteria: citations, students and international staff.

But it gets even better: once again, the quality of research at UMONS has been rewarded in the QS Ranking 2022 for the current year. The university is now in the  World’s Top 300 in this area. We are ranked 269th for the citation rate criterion, making us the 3rd placed Francophone Belgian university in the current edition.

These recent results confirm those recently published by other ranking lists, such as U-Multirank, and even more recently, the Shanghai ARWU QS by field.  As a reminder, the latter, with a slightly different methodology, ranks UMONS, for the criterion of research quality and scientific work citation rate, in 5th place among Belgian universities and 3rd among Francophone universities in the country.

Like the U-Multirank ranking, what is once again highlighted by an independent ranking is the international openness of UMONS, both on the part of our students and researchers, and the recognition of the quality of research carried out by our scientific community (Citation per faculty).
