This multidisciplinary MOOC is free of charge! It is the first co-created course between the seven universities of the EUNICE Alliance, among which is UMONS. It will be open until 31 May 2023.

This MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) “Introduction to Global Studies” covers many topics such as economy, culture, health or sustainability from a global and transversal perspective.

In the context of today’s globalised world, this new MOOC course aims at providing insight into the interrelationships between events and actors in different environments at a local, national and global level.

Its introductory format will make it easy for participants from different fields and with different levels of expertise to follow the course. They have will have access to a wide range of written content in English spread into 8 chapters: (Introduction; Global Economics; Global Business ; Global Civil Society ; Media/Freedom of expression ; Global health ; Sustainable Building in a Global World ; Global Environmental Change and Sustainable Development). In addition, they will be able to complete the activities at their own pace on the EUNICE Moodle Platform.

Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate issued by EUNICE will automatically be sent to the participants.

The main added value of the MOOC is the active participation of university professors from seven different countries, including Prof. Pierre Duez, professor in Therapeutic Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Mons.

“The learning experience will be enriched by the multiculturalism offered by the diverse profiles of the teaching staff,” said Adolfo Cosme Fernández, Professor of Economics at the University of Cantabria (Spain), who is coordinating the course.
