We invite your participation to the next International Conference of the Society for Human Ecology (SHE).

June 16 – 19, 2025

Hosted by the University of Mons

Mons, Belgium

Why participate?

  • Join a diverse international and interdisciplinary gathering.
  • Contribute to a wide range of formal and informal exchanges in a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Enjoy the cafe-lined streets of a charming university town.

At this point, we would like to hear from people interested in taking part in this event. If you are, and would like to receive continuing announcements and information, please “submit” electronically in the appropriate category below.

Like previous human ecology conferences, this event is intended to bring together a diverse group of educators, researchers and practitioners who utilize, or are interested in, interdisciplinary and ecological approaches.

SHE meetings rely heavily on the suggestions and contributions of participants. Our aim is to make this event as broadly interdisciplinary as possible—bridging science, social science, and policy perspectives—with literature, humanities, and creative arts. Contributions from all areas of human ecology (theory, education, research, and practice) are welcomed.

Examples of recent SHE conference sub-themes include:

Ecological Economics ~ Environmental Design ~ Eco-Arts ~ Food Systems/Food Security ~ Environmental Justice ~Human Ecology Education ~ Climate Change ~Health and Well-being ~ Indigenous and Decolonial Ecologies ~ Urban/Regional Planning ~ Historical Ecology ~ Conservation Social Science ~ Literature and Ecology ~ Interdisciplinary Collaboration ~ Sustainability Issues ~ and more

Guidelines for organized symposia, individual contributions, posters and workshop sessions will be available soon. In the meantime, anyone with preliminary program suggestions or contacts with interested colleagues or institutions is invited to contact: shexxviconference@societyforhumanecology.org

Please reply with your suggestions on this form.

Note: We only need statements of interest/intention at this time.  Formal abstracts and detailed information on participants will be requested at a later date.
