Description
During their studies, future graduates of the Master’s in Interpretation will acquire the strategies and skills required for the different types of interpreting: consecutive, liaison and simultaneous. The speeches to be interpreted, which may be highly technical, cover a wide range of fields, and therefore require a high level of linguistic and cultural competence in at least two foreign languages, as well as the use of technological tools, such as online terminology databases.

Program and structure
A comprehensive study programme is available in Danish, Dutch, English, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Block 1 introduces students to the three main types of interpreting (consecutive, simultaneous, liaison). In Block 2, students choose between the conference interpretation option, covering simultaneous interpretation into French, and liaison interpretation/PSI (Public Service Interpreting), which requires an excellent active command of both foreign languages. A dissertation and a professional placement in a company, a multilingual administration or the interpreting department of an international organisation are part of the second year of the Master’s programme.
Teaching profile

At the end of the course, students will have:
- Linguistic skills - apply linguistic knowledge to translation or interpreting
- (Inter)cultural skills - use intercultural knowledge relevant to the understanding, analysis and contextualisation of translation activities.
- Thematic skills - develop and apply thematic knowledge in the fields in which translation/interpreting activities are carried out
- Cognitive skills - master the theoretical knowledge specific to translation and interpreting, applying it to professional practice and developing it independently
- Ethical and professional skills - master the professional context of interpreting
- Relational and communication skills - use and develop communicative skills
- Professional skills specific to conference interpreting - master the professional delivery of an interpretation
- Professional skills specific to liaison interpreting - master the professional delivery of an interpretation.
