UMONS ranks top in the Shanghai Rankings for Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering

UMONS ranks particularly well in the fields of Physics (201-300), Chemistry (301-400), and Materials Science and Engineering (201-300). It is one of the “World’s Top Universities”, ranking between 901st and 1000th place. In physics, it is the first Belgian university for the “Citation Impact” (IC) indicator and the third Belgian university, behind UCLouvain and ULB, for international publications (CNCI). In chemistry, UMONS is also the first Belgian university for the international publications (CNCI) and the “Citation Impact” (IC) indicators. Finally, in materials science, it is the second Belgian university for the “Citation Impact” (IC) indicator.

For the second consecutive year, UMONS is included in the Shanghai ranking of universities, released 15th August 2019.

The 2019 Shanghai Ranking (ARWU – Academic Ranking of World Universities) publishes a single-score list of the 1000 “best universities in the world”.

UMONS is one of the “World’s Top Universities”, ranking between 901st and 1000th place.

  • In materials science, it is the second Belgian, university behind Antwerp, for the “Citation Impact” (IC) indicator, and the second Belgian university behind KUL for the number of articles published in Top Journals (TOP).

Although the relevance of these rankings is disputed, these results, which focus on scientific productivity, as well as those published by U-Multirank and QS, attest to the quality of our researchers’ work.
