Metabolic flux analysis – micro- and macroscopic modeling of bioprocesses

Dynamic metabolic flux analysis is of paramount importance to understand the response of cells or micro-organisms to their time-varying culture environment.

It is also conceptually and practically important to understand the link between detailed metabolic representations and macroscopic models describing the cell as a black-box processing extracellular substrates to extracellular products.

In this fascinating field of investigation, some of our recent research focused on:

  • the development of Flux Variability Analysis (FVA) tools with minimum relaxation of the constraints
  • the development of dynamic models of the virus amplification in Vero cell cultures for the production of vaccines
  • the inference of minimal, suboptimal, sets of elementary flux modes for dynamic metabolic modeling
