The dissertation is the culmination of the Master’s degree in Architecture, specialising in either Construction or Urban Planning. This personal written work is designed to develop and illustrate the student’s ability to explore, analyse and summarise a subject directly related to architecture. Regular meetings with the supervisor(s) enable the progress of the work to be assessed. The dissertation culminates in a twenty-minute presentation on the subject studied, followed by a question and answer session in front of a panel of judges.
Since 1951, the Library of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning has been collecting student dissertations. A description of the dissertations produced by the students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and how to consult them is available in the Library Catalogue.
The doctorate is the third cycle of university studies leading to the academic title of Doctor. It consists of a combination of research work and personalised training that enables students to acquire advanced scientific knowledge in their field, as well as a wide range of cross-disciplinary skills. The Doctorate is conferred by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning following the presentation of a doctoral thesis.
A description of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning’s doctoral students’ theses and how to consult them is available in the Library Catalogue.
The aim of the Institutional Repository is to combine all the publications of the scientific community of the University of Mons.
UMONS is developing an active Open Access policy. Researchers submit their articles to the institutional repository and, unless the publisher advises otherwise, are invited to publish them in Open Access, which is the free availability of scientific publications on the public Internet. It allows anyone to read, download, copy, print and transmit the content of these digital works.
The UMONS digital library, PHENIX, offers free access to the documentary heritage of the University of Mons.
Databases in the field of Architecture and Construction are also available. You can also discover many electronic periodicals relating to Architecture from Full Text Finder.
