Course Description
Architectural engineers imagine, design, optimise, realise and implement architectural projects and solutions by integrating technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental needs, contexts and issues.
They are able to understand all the architectural, technical, economic and human components of an architectural project. As a project manager, they are able to integrate these various components. Their specific expertise in architectonics and engineering allow them to evolve in all economic and administrative sectors linked to architecture, construction and regional planning.
The integrated architecture projects work on and develop the fundamental design skills that will be anchored in practice, mainly through “life-size” projects, placements (both in the office and on site), the use of specific computer tools and study trips. The development of a professional digital identity, immersion in an international context (70% of graduates spend at least 3 months abroad) and involvement in networking events enable students to establish themselves as responsible professionals, in tune with the current challenges in the construction industry.
The range of choices in terms of careers (e.g. self-employed architect, design office, architecture firm, consulting engineer, acoustics office, control office, special techniques office, research centre, and urban planning administration) is an asset of their training.

Holders of a Master’s in Architectural Engineering can continue their education by taking postgraduate courses or by embarking on a PhD.
Teaching profile
The programme description defines the expected learning outcomes, i.e. what the student should know, understand and be able to achieve by the end of a learning activity, a teaching unit or a study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, etc.). Learning outcomes are defined in terms of knowledge, expertise and soft skills.
At the end of the Master's, students will be able to:
- Imagine, design, carry out and implement projects and solutions to address a complex problem in the field architectural engineering by integrating different needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental).
- Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out architectural engineering missions, using their expertise and adaptability.
- Plan, manage and lead projects in view of their objectives, resources and constraints, ensuring the quality of activities and deliverables.
- Work effectively in teams, develop leadership, make decisions in multidisciplinary, multicultural, and international contexts.
- Communicate and exchange information in a structured way - orally, graphically and in writing, in French and in one or more other languages - scientifically, culturally, technically and interpersonally by adapting to the intended purpose and the relevant public.
- Adopt a professional and responsible approach, showing an open and critical mind in an independent professional development process.
- Contribute by researching an innovative solution to a problem in engineering sciences.

Opportunities
An architectural engineer is now a key player in building design. The versatile training they receive opens doors to many career prospects. Their role is to design and build buildings, ranging from family homes to large developments, such as office complexes, sports halls and shopping centres. Their acquired skills also allow them to implement engineering infrastructures, such as drainage systems, roads, foundations, and footbridges.
Architectural engineers also ensure the well-being of the occupants and the management of energy resources by proposing appropriate technical solutions, which may include: lighting, acoustics, air conditioning, and insulation.
Their artistic sensibility and architectural culture lead them to contribute to urban and rural regeneration, offer elegant land-use planning solutions and restore and renovate old buildings.
At the end of their course, they are qualified to offer services as a Consulting Engineer, either privately or as an employee in a design office, an architecture firm, a construction company, or in public administration (public services and urban planning). They are also able to lead construction and renovation projects.
For all trainee architects, a mandatory two-year placement is required for them to be allowed to carry out architectural missions in their own name.
